Animal Protection Association Interlaken - Oberhasli is an animal shelter in Bönigen, Canton of Berne. The Animal Protection Association Interlaken-Oberhasli is a non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of animals in the district of Interlaken-Oberhasli. Main activities include operating a cat rescue station, finding suitable homes for animals, providing advice related to pet ownership, and various animal protection interventions. Alma, our newest concern at the rescue station. The homeless cat lady had been staying at a campsite for some time. Holiday guests fed her, and Alma was tolerated there. One day, Alma was found injured. Apparently, she suffered a serious accident. Fortunately, someone took her to the veterinary clinic in Thun. Since Alma has no owner and no one wants to take responsibility for this animal, the question arose as to how to proceed with the poor kitty. The veterinarian first provided emergency treatment and then contacted us. It turned out that one of her front legs was broken, and surgery was unavoidable. The cat was otherwise in good general condition, and the prognosis for recovery looked promising. Therefore, we decided to take Alma into our care and look for a new home for her after her recovery. The costs for the surgery and aftercare will be quite high, but euthanizing Alma was not an option for us. We believe that after this surgery and several weeks of cage rest, Alma will be pain-free and mobile again. The metal plates in Alma's leg will most likely not need to be removed. Alma is coping very well with this difficult situation and is patiently accepting the cage rest. In a few weeks, she will be able to walk and jump around properly again.
