Since 2007, it has not only been a shelter for birds but also, under the label "Büsihof," a home for around 200 other animals of all kinds. Cats, dogs, small mammals, rabbits, guinea pigs, and reptiles; all find a temporary or permanent home here. Most of the animals are rehomed whenever possible. The exception is the parrots. They stay with us in the shelter until the end of their lives. This can sometimes take a long time, as parrots can live up to 90 years. The animals in our shelter were partly surrendered by their owners, confiscated by cantonal authorities, or handed over to the shelter by the descendants of deceased pet owners. Since its opening in 2004, the current Animal Protection Association Papageienhof / Büsihof has been located in Dicken, in the idyllic secluded home of the founder and association president Marcel Jung. Space in Dicken has become increasingly scarce for animals and humans alike. Thanks to many spontaneous donations, but especially through loyal supporters, more and more animals have been able to move into the modern, large, and bright new buildings in Aachsäge in Mogelsberg in recent years. Three houses have already been built largely by our own efforts; a birdhouse, a small animal house, and a dog house. The large area still has plenty of room to grow.
