Donate here with heart Animal Protection Association Zug 1947 - 2026 As an independent association, we operate comprehensive regional animal protection, serve as an information and advisory center, and are committed to the welfare of animals and humans. The Animal Protection Association Zug was founded on December 3, 1947. The main initiator and first president of our association was Gerold Schnyder. He led our organization for 28 years and after his retirement in 1975, he was elected honorary president. He passed away at the age of 82 on October 18, 1984. From 1975, the association was led by ten presidents and one president: Rudolph Kleiner (1975–83), Fritz Glarner (1983–85), Alfred Burgi (1985–87), Albert Fröhli (1987–94), Beat Geiser (1994–95), Rita Meier (1995–96), Kurt Diethelm (1996–2000), Benedikt Strickler (2000–13), Robert Gottschalk (2013–19), and Stefan Werner (2019-present). Since September 2010, the cantonal office for spatial planning and transport (Department of Nature and Landscape) has granted TSV Zug permission to keep hedgehogs for therapeutic purposes. The Animal Protection Association Zug maintains a close collaboration as an official section with the Swiss Animal Protection STS (umbrella organization), neighboring sections, Zug veterinarians, police, canton, and municipalities. TSV Zug has the authorization to train apprentices and is a member of SVBT (Swiss Association for Vocational Training in Animal Care).
